Spring boasts some of the best public and private schools in the area. All areas within the Spring CDP are within the Spring Independent School District, which has been recognized with a Nation Blue Ribbon Scholastic award. Additionally, a number of premier private schools, (also National Blue Ribbon award winners), are located within or serve the Spring area.

In need of some higher education? Lone Star College System is the largest institution of higher education in the Houston area, and the fastest-growing community college system in Texas. The Lone Star College system has more than 69,000 students in credit classes, and a total enrollment of more than 85,000. 

One of the biggest attractions for residents of Spring are its many beautiful parks and amenities. Harris County Precinct 4 operates parks in the Spring CDP. Southwell Park, a 5-acre, includes the B.F. Clark Community Building, a picnic pavilion with tables and a barbecue pit, one lighted basketball pavilion, barbecue grills, toilets, and two playgrounds with one for children aged 2 through 5 and one for children aged 5 through 12.

Bayer Park, a 30-acre facility, the park has a canoe launch, a pavilion facility with a meeting room and toilets, a playground facility, picnic areas, and a trail system connecting Bayer Park to the Spring Creek Greenway. Spring also operates the Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens. The facility includes the Baldwin Boettcher Branch Library, an endangered species garden with a beaver pond, a canoe launch, picnic areas, a playground for children aged 6 through 12, a tea house, a trail, and a visitor center.

The Cypresswood Golf club is a known as a must for Golf enthusiasts from around the Houston area. And for family fun that escapes the Houston heat, a water park called SplashTown Water Park Houston is located in Spring.
